I love Kuma’s burgers, but I hate the wait. I even love the metal…. so I submit for your consideration The Lockdown. They have a similar variety of burgers, but instead of being metal bands, they are jail themed.

Burgers called “Slayer” and “Black Sabbath”? Served by tatted doofuses too cool for the room? Where you can’t hear the waitress over the background death metal? It’s my kind of place. I’d eat one of their burgers if it was a disk shaped from a pit bull turd, topped with sheep placenta and named “The Skinny Puppy”. Oh, wait a minute. I had that one.

some of my faves- Dublins, John Barleycorn, Five Guys, Mike Ditkas. Kuma’s was tasty and HANDS DOWN has the best variety, but a 2 hour wait? I’m a metalhead and love burgers, and the wait isn’t worth it, even for me…

Jimmy I agree with you, Kuma’s is as overrated as your first hand-job at a y-dance, and I will follow with my own rec so relax! When your waitstaff cant answer a simple question about the beef product(chuck, round or sirloin?) they are slop-slinging in a joint that yell’s all over the burger scene like a snot-nosed brat…re-think your concept. I might just wear a bondage mask if I have to go there again.
Freddie’s Pizza & Sandwich’s at 701 W 31st St is a cheese burger. Char-grilled so you can taste the grill. Cheese that actually has substance. Buns that still crunch from the toasting. Ridge cut pickles that tickle your taste buds. Get it to-go from the ally pick-up counter.
If that doesn’t do it for you then try Parkside Cafe, 308 W 33rd St. Just go there and get the cheeseburger. NOW!
